Outdoor Training

TNYF Training is passionate about the healing power of nature. Come with us on an outdoor adventure of learning.  Paddle Canada Canoe courses, Hiking and Canoeing Risk Management, Project Wild, Leave No Trace, Land Based Learning, Wilderness First Aid and more.

Sign up for one of our on-site courses and experience our 39 acres of wilderness, or we can travel to your location for private group training (mileage charged).

Courses offered:

Wall Climbing Belay (for Camps) – Risk Management, Use and Care of Equipment, proper Climbing and Belay techniques using either ATC or GriGri belay devices.  New course – $75   Recertifications – $25

Wilderness Remote First Aid (20-hour) – For individuals who live, work or spend time in non-urban, wilderness locations located less than 3 hours from organized health care.  Includes Planning, Prevention, and Situational Awareness as well as First Aid.  Includes Wilderness & Remote Field Guide.  $250    Recert (10 hour) $100

Wilderness Advanced First Aid (40-hour) – For Individuals who are Professional Guides, Parks Officials, work in Recreation, Ecotourism, Remote Work locations, take Groups into the wilderness or spend time in the wilderness, 3 or more hours from organized healthcare. (For Workplace requirements -please ensure that you have checked organizational requirements). Includes planning a multi-day trip, prevention, health and wellness of group, leadership skills, assessment, extended care and decision making, communication. Includes a Wilderness & Remote Field Guide.   $425    Recert (20 hour) $250

Wilderness First Responder (80 hour) – Provides comprehensive, advanced first aid and CPR skills including BLS, OA and AM for emergencies in remote settings.  This course prepares participants to offer urgent evacuation and extended care where professional medical care is significantly delayed. Ideal for professional rescuers, guides, and others working in wilderness environments.  It develops crucial leadership qualities and the ability to make critical decisions in challenging situations. A significant portion of the course is taught in outdoor settings, focusing on hands-on skills, extrication, and the effective use of professional tools. Participants should be in strong physical condition, as the course involves high levels of physical activity and endurance.  New Course $1150    Recertification $600

Marine First Aid (Basic (20 hour and Advanced 30 hour) These courses equal Standard First Aid with additional components focused on Marine emergencies.  They are certified by Transport Canada and meets their requirements for smaller commercial vessels as outlined in Transport Publication (TP) 13008E. They provide you with marine-specific knowledge, including using equipment and skills in a marine environment and transferring patients from a ship in the advanced course.   Basic – $175   Advanced – $250

Outdoor Council of Canada – Outdoor Leadership (Hiking and Canoeing 16 – 20 hour) For Individuals bringing groups to an outdoor environment. This course focuses on leadership skills and attributes required to take a group outdoors and provide an effective framework for Risk Management. This course is beneficial for outdoor clubs, camps, outfitters, schools, community programs, outdoor centres, or any other context where outdoor activities are part of programming in low-risk terrain.   Either option – $175                                                                                       

Risk Management – This is a workshop around the risks involved in Wilderness settings or Wilderness Activities, which we design to meet the specific needs of the organization requesting it.

Paddle Canada Lake Tandem / Solo Introductory – (8 hours) These courses introduce participants to the basic paddling strokes and land and water rescue techniques. It prepares participants to have the confidence and skills to venture out on short paddling adventures.  $125

Basic Paddle Skills -The Basic Lake skills course is a 4 hour program designed for individuals, both youth and adults that wish to receive a certification in basic Lake paddling skills and knowledge. For example stroke development, stability, straight line paddling, pivots and turns, and safe paddling practices when paddling a canoe on a calm lake environment. $50

Leave No Trace – These workshops are for anyone, adult or youth, who works in or is a recreational user of our Outdoor spaces.  The course teaches the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace focusing on best practices to preserve our Wilderness.  These principles can also encourage individuals to also think about how they can transfer to urban settings as well. Workshops can run from 2 – 8 hours dependent on interest.  $20 – $65

Project Wild Workshops – Youth workshops / Family workshops or book a half or full day for your organization or school.  $50 

Land Based Learning – For schools, organizations, youth groups.  We curate the learning based on your groups interest and desired learning outcomes.  Different activities offered include: Archery, Orienteering, Shelter Building, Fire Building, Survival skills, Indigenous Games, Canoeing.  Pricing dependent on booking.

Outdoor Team Building – For Youth groups, Organizations and Businesses. Grow your team through outdoor Team Building activities that utilize the different equipment based activities or the Land Based Learning skills.  We design it to meet the needs of your group.  Pricing dependent on booking.

Individuals, you will be asked set up an account and then you will be able to register for the course of your choice.

If you are registering multiple people from one organization, fill out the initial account with your organizational name, then the individual forms for all participants. You will be able to pay individually or one payment for your organization.
